The gravelly/black earth soils between Gols, Frauenkirchen and Podersdorf provide a structure that
yields fruit-toned, elegant wines: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Zweigelt, St.Laurent, and Pinot Noir.
With gravelly soil and an under-layer of loam, the Schafleiten is at the edge of the Parndorfer Platte.
The soil here heats up intensely during the day and then cools down strongly at night, bringing very
fruit-toned, minerally wines: St.Laurent, Blaufränkisch and Pinot Noir.
This cru is, along with the Ungerberg, Salzberg, Spiegel and Gabarinza, amongst the 5 top vineyard sites.
It is directed to the south-southwest, and comprises two climatic zones. The slope consists of clay with
shell
limestone and is optimal for Blaufränkisch. The plateau features red gravel, the perfect basis for St.Laurent.
This soft slope is just opposite to the Altenberg, and features gravelly soil with a high iron content.
Because of its close proximity to the Parndorfer Platte, the Goldberg experiences cool nights that bring a
distinctive fruitiness to the wines – just perfect for the St. Laurent.
Loamy sand soil between the Salzberg and Gabarinza sites. The Spiegel's soil conditions bring very meaty,
fruity red wines – supreme for Blaufränkisch!
Sandy loam soil; south-southwest facing. Also chalk inclusions; ideal for Blaufränkisch, Merlot and Syrah.
Gabarinza is comprised of a southern slope, on which Blaufränkisch is growing, and a cool northern slope,
where Pinot Noir is cultivated. The soil, made up of heavy loam with limestone inclusions, lends to very elegant,
finely structured wines.
The Edelgrund, which lies on the Heideboden, is comprised of gravelly black earth soil. And the wine from
it is matured in used barriques. Blaufränkisch Edelgrund is a wine that delivers pleasure in its youth, yet has
good ageing potential as well.
Langer Acker lies on the Heideboden and its soil consists of sandy black earth. The black earth is very fertile
and the sand provides it with looseness, keeping it well ventilated and from becoming too heavy.
